Whether for everyday or emergency use, overland or off-road vehicles are often loaded with more electronics than would have been imaginable just a few years ago. ODYSSEY batteries have been designed to keep up with the power demand. Because their plates are made of pure virgin lead (unlike the lead alloy in most batteries), we can pack in more plates. And more plates mean more plate surface area, and much more power - twice the overall power and three times the life of conventional batteries - up to 400 cycles at 80% depth of discharge!
ODYSSEY batteries deliver the massive starting power, rapid recovery, and amazing deep cycling capability that a well kitted vehicle demands. The basis for any stationary/secondary Overland Vehicle electrical system is the carrying capacity of the battery system. Increasing the amperage of an alternator only manages the available power when running the engine - and reload speed for the battery system. The non-running available power is the main measure of how long an unsupported traveler can remain stationary before needing to refill the electrical reserves. Preparation for both planned and unplanned stationary periods based on the power draw of the "camp" systems should include refrigeration, lighting, auxiliary device charging, communications, maintenance & repairs, and of course comfort items.
The Odyssey Group 34 batteries are sized to fit dual battery systems into a Defender seat-box, or common dual battery trays for many other off-pavement overland vehicles.
